Highland Park Elementary awarded an OK Community Cares grant to support their third grade English Language Arts class.
The funds from this grant will help purchase learning materials and resources to support student language growth.
“Forty-five percent of my classroom consists of students who are English Language Learners,” said Gabbie Wells, first year teacher at Highland Park Elementary. “Having the resources to allow them to explore their second language while using their first will boost their confidence in my classroom.”
OK Community Cares is a fund of Oklahoma Community Federal Credit Union (“Oklahoma Community” or “Credit Union”) to help fulfill the Credit Union’s mission to enhance the financial well-being of our members and communities. Through this fund we will exhibit our core values of “Knowing, Doing & Caring,” by supporting local organizations, schools and community activities that enhance educational opportunities, provide financial literacy, address food insecurities, encourage healthy living and address housing needs.
