Oklahoma Community Credit Union recently held a reception in honor of Earl D. Mitchell, Jr. to present a donation to Our Daily Bread food and resource center.
The $5,000 check was presented to Rachael Condley, Executive Director of Our Daily Bread to reiterate the devotion to our community that Mitchell displayed during his 50 years of service as an Oklahoma Community Credit Union volunteer board of director.
Mitchell was a founding member of what was then branded, O.S. Employees Credit Union and he served as a board of director for the credit union during the past 50 years. The reception was attended by Mitchell’s family, Our Daily Bread and Oklahoma Community Credit Union staff and board of directors and members of the Friends of Earl and Bernice Mitchell group. The celebration focused on Mitchell’s work in the community, especially at Our Daily Bread and the credit union.
“We are honored to receive this donation to celebrate the remarkable and service-driven life of Dr. Mitchell,” stated Condley. “Earl, and his wife Bernice, will be greatly missed in this community. We are extremely grateful he was so profoundly involved in helping those in need, including the guests of Our Daily Bread.”
Mitchell also served as a board of director for Our Daily Bread, where he was the brainchild of implementing self-help programs for the organization’s patrons. Financial literacy, fraud awareness, nutrition and life skills were just a few of the programs Mitchell and the Our Daily Bread staff implemented to help enrich the lives of those in Payne County and beyond.
