Perkins-Tryon Band recently received a $1,000 OK Community Cares grant to help purchase new drumline equipment.
The grant funds will replace current equipment that is around 12 years old and has general wear and tear. The new drums will allow the program to continue being competitive with other bands in the state.
“The Perkins-Tryon band program is extremely thankful to be named as an OK Community Cares grant recipient,” said KG Robinson, Perkins-Tryon Public Schools Director of Bands. “These funds will be going towards our ‘Fill the Drum’ campaign which is raising $16,000 for the purchase of much needed new drumline equipment. This new equipment will allow us to continue to grow and succeed year after year!”
The new equipment will serve Perkins-Tryon band students for at least the next 10 years with the project hopefully being completed before the next school year begins.
